Volleyball Preview: Lee Williams Volunteers vs. Flagstaff Eagles
Lee Williams hasn't had much luck against Flagstaff recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lee Williams Volunteers are taking a road trip to take on the Flagstaff Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lee Williams took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Mohave 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Volunteers have posted since September 12th.
One reason for the win was Lee Williams' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-17, 25-15.
Lee Williams can attribute much of their success to Lauren Finch, who had nine digs and two aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Lee Williams was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mohave only served seven.
Meanwhile, Flagstaff waltzed into their game on Saturday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They won by a set and slipped past the Colts 2-1.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Flagstaff who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 22-25, 15-8.
Lee Williams now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Flagstaff, their record is now 20-1.
