Softball Recap: Sudan Drops Highest Score of Season Against New Deal

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sudan). They blew past the New Deal Lions 21-8 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Andrea Williams, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniella Ramirez, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Sudan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They are 14-1-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Sudan, bringing their record up to 15-11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.8 runs over those games. As for New Deal, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Sudan will square off against Tahoka at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Deal does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
