Baseball Recap: Bear Creek Triumphs

After losing to Hughson the last time they met, Bear Creek decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bruins came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 5-1 on Saturday.

Jacob Ordez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bear Creek let Isaiah Bejsovec and Tyler Gilbert run wild. Bejsovec went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Gilbert went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Bejsovec has become a key player for Bear Creek: the team is 2-0-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-11-1 otherwise. Brayden Schoennauer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Bear Creek's record now sits at 10-11-2. As for Hughson, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bear Creek will host Amador at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Buffaloes' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Bruins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hughson, they will welcome Hilmar at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
