Softball Game Preview: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Karnes City Badgers

Nixon-Smiley is 0-9 against Karnes City since February of 2015 but things could change on Friday. Nixon-Smiley will venture away from home to square off against Karnes City at 6:00 p.m. Nixon-Smiley has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nixon-Smiley lost 22-8 to Luling on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mustangs have suffered against the Eagles since April 1, 2022.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Karnes City was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against Goliad, falling 17-2.

Karnes City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laila Garcia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Another was Amelie Hungerford, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Nixon-Smiley's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Karnes City, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-6.

Nixon-Smiley might still be hurting after the 17-7 loss they got from Karnes City when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Nixon-Smiley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
