Basketball Recap: Eustis Piles Up the Points Against Mount Dora

Eustis had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Mount Dora Hurricanes 61-16. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 580th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eustis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cornelius Hines, who went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Riley, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points.

Eustis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Eustis is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Mount Dora, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-19.

Eustis will square off against Tavares at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tavares will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Eustis surely won't give up without a fight. Mount Dora does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
