Baseball Game Preview: West Stanly Colts vs. Piedmont Panthers

For the second straight game, West Stanly will face off against Piedmont. The Colts will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Stanly is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Last Monday, West Stanly was able to grind out a solid victory over Piedmont, taking the game 4-1.

For Piedmont's part, Peyton Archer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Archer has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Piedmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Polk, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

West Stanly's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Piedmont, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11.
