Baseball Recap: Hackensack Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Hackensack hadn't done well against Bergen Tech recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Comets came out on top against the Knights by a score of 6-3. For the Comets, this counts as revenge for the 8-2 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Holden Cohen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hackensack is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Thomas Ingallinera, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jorden Garcia, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Hackensack's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12. As for Bergen Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hackensack will head out to face off against Northern Highlands at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Bergen Tech, they will venture away from home to take on Clifton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
