Football Recap: Milford Takes a Loss

If Milford was riding high fresh off their 95-20 takedown of Panguitch last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers took a 25-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rich Rebels on Friday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2021.

Loss or not, Milford got some senior leadership from Griffin Walker and Kyzler Merryweather. Walker rushed for 81 yards and one score on only seven carries, while Merryweather gained 95 total yards and two touchdowns. Walker got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 51 yards.

Jett Holmes was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 117 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 51 yards and one touchdown. Those 117 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Rich also got a significant boost from Wilkes Weston, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.

Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Rich, the win was the sixth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milford will challenge Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rich, they will face off against North Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
