Basketball Game Preview: Kenton Wildcats vs. Liberty-Benton Eagles

The Kenton Wildcats will square off against the Liberty-Benton Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kenton is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kenton took on McComb last Friday. Kenton fell 54-45 to McComb.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Liberty-Benton's strategy against Van Buren on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Liberty-Benton blew Van Buren out of the water with a 66-33 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Kenton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Liberty-Benton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Kenton was able to grind out a solid win over Liberty-Benton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 62-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kenton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
