Volleyball Recap: Muncie Central Bearcats vs. Jay County Patriots

After flying high against Madison-Grant on Tuesday, Muncie Central came back down to earth. The Bearcats lost 3-0 to the Jay County Patriots on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Muncie Central took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-15, 25-20.

Kendall Kahle paced Muncie Central's offense, picking up six kills. Kahle got some help from Grace Walker and her 16 assists. Chloe Miller controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jay County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lani Muhlenkamp, who had eight digs and four aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Carley Trinidad, who had six digs and three aces.

Muncie Central dropped their record down to 4-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Jay County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Muncie Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Oak Hill on the 30th. As for Jay County, they will challenge Fort Recovery at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
