Football Recap: Wausa/Osmond Comes Up Short

Wausa/Osmond faced Crofton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Wausa/Osmond was outmatched by Crofton and fell 50-12. Having soared to a lofty 50 points in the game before, Wausa/Osmond couldn't push the score so high this time.

When it comes to explaining why Wausa/Osmond lost, don't look at Mac Carlson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 110 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 125 yards on nine of 18 attempts. Carlson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 110 rushing yards.

It was another big night for Tyson Jackson, who rushed for 185 yards and four scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry for Crofton. Jackson showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Jace Panning, who gained 81 total yards and two touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wausa/Osmond fell to 6-1. As for Crofton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Wausa/Osmond will face off against Niobrara/Verdigre at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Wausa/Osmond will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Crofton, they will welcome Boyd County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.86 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
