Volleyball Game Preview: Lake of the Woods Bears vs. Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears

Lake of the Woods has gone 7-1 against Clearbrook-Gonvick recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Lake of the Woods will head out on the road to take on Clearbrook-Gonvick at 6:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lake of the Woods took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Blackduck by a score of 3-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bears as it put an end to their four-match losing streak.

The win didn't come easy: Blackduck scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Lake of the Woods can attribute much of their success to Sophie Block, who had 22 digs. Kate Martin also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Meanwhile, Clearbrook-Gonvick got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Cass Lake-Bena. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Lake of the Woods' record is now 8-13. As for Clearbrook-Gonvick, their record now sits at 2-9.

Lake of the Woods took their victory against Clearbrook-Gonvick when the teams last played back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake of the Woods since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
