Football Recap: Gabriel Jimenez Yanez Leads Christopher's Defense on Thursday + How To Watch

Christopher might've scored the first points on Thursday, but it was Santa Teresa who claimed the real prize. The Cougars fell 27-16 to the Saints. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Although Christopher took the loss, they still got scores from Dylan Robinson and Kordell Crocker.

Even if they lost, Christopher's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Gabriel Jimenez Yanez with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. Dominic Marini was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Jaylen Malcom produced another solid performance rushing for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries for Santa Teresa. Another player making a difference was Prince Collins, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one TD.

This is the second loss in a row for Christopher and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-2 Branham (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 85.7% over those games). As for Santa Teresa, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Meanwhile, Santa Teresa is set to take on their familiar foe Branham at 7:15 p.m. on the 31st. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Malcom and Michael Murphy.
