Marian faced Bloomfield Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Black Hawks by a score of 2-1. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Marian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ashlyn Pelon had five digs and two aces. Pelon is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Among those leading the charge was Alyssa Moir, who had 13 digs and two assists.

Marian's loss dropped their record down to 40-5. As for Bloomfield Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 38-7-1 record this season.
