Recap: Shady Acres Christian Mavericks vs. Texas Christian Tigers
After flying high against the Still Creek Christian Colts two weeks ago, the Shady Acres Christian Mavericks came back down to earth. Shady Acres Christian was the victim of a rough 60-35 loss at the hands of Texas Christian on Thursday. Shady Acres Christian lost against Texas Christian in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 57-35 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Texas Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brecken Pelzel, who scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. The game was Pelzel's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Shady Acres Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Texas Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Shady Acres Christian will head out on the road to face off against The Connection School of Houston at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Texas Christian, they will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Varsity Opponent is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
