Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Northwest Falcons vs. Gretna East Griffins

The Lincoln Northwest Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Gretna East Griffins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna East took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln Northwest, who comes in off a win.

Lincoln Northwest took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over Holdrege. The win was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Gretna East didn't have quite enough to beat Gretna on Monday and fell 7-5.

Gretna East got a good showing from Drew Barratta, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barratta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Carson Herrmann made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nolan Green, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Lincoln Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Gretna East, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
