New Brighton won the last time they faced Northgate and things went their way  on Wednesday too. The Lions were the clear victors by  a  14-2 margin over the Flames. Considering the Lions have won six matches by more than nine  runs this season, Wednesday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Gaige Kovach made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and one  double. Those  two  runs gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news, New Brighton let  Casey Bloom and  Jaxson Zahn run wild. Bloom  went 3-for-5 with four  RBI, two  doubles,  and one  triple, while  Zahn  went 3-for-5 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and two  doubles. Those  three  hits gave  Bloom a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jaleb Bailey, who  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and one  RBI.
 New Brighton was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .405. They are  a perfect 6-0 when  they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The  victory made it two in a row for New Brighton and  bumps their season record up to 8-5. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6  runs in those games. As for Northgate,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 4-10.
 New Brighton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  game,  an  11-8  victory against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart on the 24th. As for Northgate, they will challenge Brentwood at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday.
