Baseball Recap: Juniata Triumphs

Juniata posted their closest win since May 12, 2025 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Line Mountain Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Eagles on April 1st, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

Daylyn Kennedy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Juniata: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cam Bargo, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Hayden Burd was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Juniata and bumps their season record up to 3-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Line Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Juniata will square off against Halifax at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Line Mountain, they will challenge Susquenita at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
