Basketball Recap: Lorain Skates Past Maple Heights with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Lorain over Maple Heights in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lorain Titans blew the Maple Heights Mustangs out of the water with a 57-17 final score. With the Titans ahead 33-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Lorain had a senior duo take command as Aminah Mustafa went 7 of 13 from beyond the arc on her way to 21 points and six assists and Samone Whitt dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mustafa has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaila Kirksey, who posted five points.

Lorain pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Maple Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Lorain and Maple Heights will both be playing Bedford the next time they take the court. Lorain will head out to face Bedford at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Maple Heights will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
