Soccer Recap: Western Branch Takes a Loss

After flying high against Indian River on Tuesday, Western Branch came back down to earth. The Bruins fell just short of the Grassfield Grizzlies by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Western Branch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Grassfield are ranked 18th).

Western Branch has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Grassfield, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Western Branch is set to square off against their familiar foe King's Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Grassfield will face off against rival Oscar Smith at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
