Baseball Recap: Oregon-Davis Comes Up Short

Oregon-Davis had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it nine. They lost 20-0 to the Triton Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on Friday.

As for Triton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Triton's part, Isaiah Vaca made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Vaca has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Blake Ousley looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Triton got a massive performance out of Max Johnson, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Johnson a new career-high. Maddox Dennie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Oregon-Davis will face off against Caston at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Triton, they will take on Bremen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
