Park City is 8-2 against Stansbury since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Miners will venture away from home to face off against the Stallions at 3:30 p.m. Park City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Park City was able to grind out a solid win over Hillcrest, taking the game 9-4. The victory continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won six in a row.
Brooks Baganz looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Brannigan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Joey Breza, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Park City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillcrest only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, Stansbury waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Buffaloes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Stallions have posted since March 14th.
Xaviah Patch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Andrew Harris was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Stansbury's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Jaxon Adams was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Stansbury pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Park City, their record is now 17-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Park City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Stansbury struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Park City's way against Stansbury in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Park City made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
