Basketball Game Preview: James Monroe Mavericks vs. Summers County Bobcats

James Monroe is 2-8 against Summers County since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The James Monroe Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Summers County Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

James Monroe is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bluefield 96-9. The Mavericks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Mya Dunlap continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 50 points and 15 rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Boroski, who scored 12 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Summers County, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in February. They took down Midland Trail 67-52 on Friday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

James Monroe's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points over those games. As for Summers County, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
