Basketball Recap: Grace Community Extends Winning Streak to Three

Grace Community waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Centerville Bulldogs with a sharp 91-67 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 24 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Centerville lost, don't look at Jake Slaten. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 32 points and 19 boards. Slaten is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolt Larsen, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 21 points and eight assists.

Grace Community's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.7 points. As for Centerville, they moved to 16-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grace Community will face off against Brentwood Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Grace Community has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Centerville, they will square off against Zavalla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centerville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.4 points per game this season.
