Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central suffered their closest loss since November 18, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of the St. Laurence Vikings by a score of 47-45.

Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Julia Scheuer went 8 of 12 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Scheuer is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley Wilson, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for St. Laurence, they moved to 3-11 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Central will square off against Plainfield South at 4:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for St. Laurence, they will venture away from home to face off against Marist at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
