Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monterey Trail). Their defense stepped up to hand the Laguna Creek Cardinals a 5-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Monterey Trail's victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1. As for Laguna Creek, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey Trail and Pleasant Grove will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
