Softball Recap: Bear River Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bear River entered their tilt with Union on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won 17 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kate Wilson looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Bear River got a massive performance out of Bella Dougals, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Aoki, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Bear River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union only posted an OBP of .167.

Bear River's victory bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season.

Bear River will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Payson at 6:00 p.m. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for Union, they will face off against Morgan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
