Preview: St. Monica Academy Crusaders vs. Faith Baptist Contenders
St. Monica Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Faith Baptist Contenders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
St. Monica Academy posted their biggest victory since December 20, 2023 on Tuesday. They really took it to Desert Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 82-41 win at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-13.
Faith Baptist suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Wednesday. Their tough 76-56 defeat to Pilibos might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Faith Baptist can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 595th, while Pilibos is ranked 126th).
St. Monica Academy's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Faith Baptist, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
St. Monica Academy might still be hurting after the 76-53 loss they got from Faith Baptist in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can St. Monica Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
