Basketball Recap: Spencer Smith Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cambridge

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Prestonwood Christian North, Alcuin was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Cambridge Lions by a score of 51-39. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Lions back in January, they had to take a 53-49 defeat.

Alcuin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Spencer Smith, who posted 21 points. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicolas Gholi, who put up 15 points.

Alcuin's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-14. As for Cambridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alcuin will venture away from home to challenge Garland Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cambridge, they will head out on the road to square off against Ovilla Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ovilla Christian has five straight wins, Cambridge has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
