Basketball Preview: Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves vs. Eastern Alamance Eagles
Cedar Ridge is 0-5 against the Eagles since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves are on the road again and plays the Eastern Alamance Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Orange typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Cedar Ridge proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Panthers with a 37-32 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cedar Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amiyah Ware, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Ware hasn't dropped below 15 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Utley, who scored eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Eastern Alamance earned a 60-49 win over the Bulldogs on Friday. Eastern Alamance pushed the score to 49-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.
Eastern Alamance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makayla Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aliya Trollinger, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Cedar Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Eastern Alamance, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Cedar Ridge came up short against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January, falling 39-35. Can Cedar Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
