Baseball Recap: Hilbert Wins Going Away Against Menominee Indian

The Hilbert Wolves made easy work of the Menominee Indian Eagles on Saturday and carried off a 17-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Ayden Keuler and Drew Halbach were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Keuler struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Halbach tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Hilbert: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-8 otherwise. At the plate, Keuler got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Halbach got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hilbert got a massive performance out of Peter Kesler, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Kesler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cashtan Konen, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

Hilbert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hilbert's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Menominee Indian, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Coming up, Hilbert will venture away from home to challenge Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Menominee Indian has already played their next game (against Three Lakes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
