Baseball Recap: Southlake Christian Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

SouthLake Christian Academy won against Westminster Catawba Christian last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Gaston Day Spartans. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won four games in a row.

Sean Rodesiler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of SouthLake Christian Academy's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Rodesiler was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jackson Drayton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Hogg, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

SouthLake Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gaston Day struck out 14 times.

SouthLake Christian Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Gaston Day, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, SouthLake Christian Academy will head out to face off against Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gaston Day, they will be playing at home against Concord Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
