Northgate hadn't done well against Clayton Valley Charter recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Broncos blew past the Ugly Eagles 9-2. Considering the Broncos have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashley Herman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Addison Baxter was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Hanko, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Northgate pushed their record up to 10-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Clayton Valley Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7-1.
