Baseball Game Preview: Masuk Panthers vs. Stratford Red Devils

Masuk has gone 8-1 against Stratford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Red Devils at 4:15 p.m. Masuk is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Masuk challenged Brookfield on Monday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Panthers have posted against the Bobcats since May 3, 2019.

Jacob Mondo tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Masuk is undefeated when Mondo allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chris Welch, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nico Convertito also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

New Milford hit Stratford with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils came up short against the Green Wave, falling 11-1. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Green Wave recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Masuk now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Stratford, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.

Masuk skirted past Stratford 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
