Softball Recap: Whitko Wildcats vs. Northfield Norsemen

After only one run in their last match, Whitko made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northfield on Wednesday. The Whitko Wildcats walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Northfield Norsemen. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Whitko also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Cassidy Skinner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Skinner has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Skinner was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Kaylee Adkins was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taylor Long, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Whitko's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Northfield, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.

Whitko is on the road again on Friday to play Oak Hill at 5:30 p.m. As for Northfield, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Bluffton at 10:00 a.m.
