Preview: Vista Ridge Rangers vs. Vandegrift Vipers
Vista Ridge is 2-8 against Vandegrift since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vista Ridge Rangers will be playing at home against the Vandegrift Vipers at 7:00 p.m. Vista Ridge is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Vista Ridge suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-41 walloping at the hands of Manor. While losing is never fun, Vista Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 588th, while Manor is ranked 123rd).
Vista Ridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bennett Eivens, who scored ten points, and Gavin Howard who scored seven points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eivens has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Vandegrift unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 44-37 to Cedar Ridge.
Vista Ridge's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-18. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Vandegrift, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6.
Vista Ridge came up short against Vandegrift when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 49-40. Can Vista Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
