Baseball Recap: Homestead Spartans vs. Carroll Chargers
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Homestead ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Carroll Chargers 8-6. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Homestead got a great performance from Ryne Michaeloff as he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up six earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Michaeloff has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Luke Neiswonger was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Bardwell, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Homestead's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Carroll, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homestead will take on Munster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carroll, they will face off against Huntington North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
