Basketball Recap: Concord Comes Up Short

Concord lost against Northgate back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Concord Bears took a blow against the Northgate Broncos, falling 74-33. The matchup marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Concord lost, don't look at Leonidas Garcia. Despite the final result, he posted seven points.

Northgate was led to victory by Rufus Lee and Damien Smith. Lee had 11 points, while Smith went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points. Lee is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Charlie Agulles was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Concord has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Northgate, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord will head out to take on College Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. College Park is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. As for Northgate, they will venture away from home to face off against Berean Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Northgate's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
