It was fun while it lasted, but South River's undefeated season came to an end after 12 games on Wednesday. They fell 81-73 to the North County Knights. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Seahawks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Knights are ranked 84th).

Having lost for the first time this season, South River fell to 12-1. As for North County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South River will take on Severn Run at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. South River knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Severn Run likes a good challenge. As for North County, they will square off against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
