Volleyball Recap: South Charleston Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Spring Valley

South Charleston faced Spring Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Black Eagles fell just short of the Timberwolves by a score of 2-1. The Black Eagles haven't had much luck with the Timberwolves recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, South Charleston sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-19, 16-25, 15-10.

Payton Baskin paced South Charleston's offense, picking up seven kills. Baskin got some help from Hailey Maxwell and her 12 assists. Maxwell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

South Charleston now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Spring Valley, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

South Charleston has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Shady Spring on the 23rd. As for Spring Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 1-1 draw against George Washington on the 23rd.
