Volleyball Game Preview: Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons vs. Babcock Trailblazers

The Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons will challenge the Babcock Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Charlotte sitting on 15 straight wins and Babcock on three.

Last Thursday, Charlotte made easy work of Bradenton Christian and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Charlotte never let Bradenton Christian on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-18, 25-23.

Charlotte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Juliet Hurley out in front who had 22 assists and six digs. Hurley is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last seven games she's played. McKenzie Kuykendall also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Meanwhile, Babcock was able to grind out a solid victory over North Port on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1.

Babcock walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 15-25, 25-21, 25-14.

Babcock's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Charlotte, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's matchup: Charlotte hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.6 blocks per game. It's a different story for Babcock, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 blocks. Given Charlotte's sizable advantage in that area, the Trailblazers will need to find a way to close that gap.
