Baseball Recap: Liberty Charter Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ocean View Christian on Monday, Liberty Charter came back down to earth. The Lions took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain Empire Redhawks on Thursday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Redhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Liberty Charter saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andruw Godinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Godinez has become a key player for the Lions: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Logan Hays also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Liberty Charter now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Mountain Empire, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Liberty Charter and Mountain Empire will both be playing High Tech CV the next time they take the field. The Redhawks will head out to face the Bruins at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Lions will host them at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th.
