Smoky Hill is 10-0 against Cherokee Trail since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Smoky Hill Buffaloes will square off against the Cherokee Trail Cougars at 7:00 p.m.

Smoky Hill is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Eaglecrest, who was ranked third at the time (Smoky Hill was ranked 25th). Smoky Hill came up short against Eaglecrest on Saturday, falling 70-50. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Buffaloes struggled afterwards.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Trail hadn't done well against Grandview recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Cherokee Trail sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 win over Grandview.

Smoky Hill now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Cherokee Trail, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Smoky Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Cherokee Trail in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, sneaking past 55-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Smoky Hill since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
