Baseball Recap: Bethlehem Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Bethlehem Central had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 7-9-1 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They never let the Shenendehowa High School get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Eagles not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 13-3).

Not much got past Dom Macarilla, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Shenendehowa off the board. Macarilla also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bethlehem Central is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-7-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Scott Hutton was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Matt Mullen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Shenendehowa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. The game marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Shenendehowa's side, they got a good showing from Zachary Milano, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Milano has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shenendehowa saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kael Fuda, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. That hit was Fuda's first of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bethlehem Central will square off against rival Ballston Spa at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Shenendehowa is set to take on their familiar foe Christian Brothers Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
