Basic is 5-0 against Del Sol since September of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Basic Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Del Sol Dragons at 6:00 p.m. Basic is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Basic finally turned things around against Spring Valley on Thursday. They came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 3-1. That two set margin sets a new team best for the Wolves this season.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 24-26, 25-20, 25-18.
Basic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracelynn Williams, who had 16 digs and five aces. The dominant performance gave her a new career- in aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Ortiz, who had 22 digs.
Basic was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're ace total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Del Sol came up short against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on Monday and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.
Del Sol came into the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. After all that action, the final score was 17-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-16.
Basic's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Del Sol, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
