NEW LONDON, Conn. -
Norwich Free Academy (Norwich, Conn.) extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 28-7 victory over
New London (Conn.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Joey Paparelli to
Ryer Caruso in the first quarter, the Wildcats led 14-0 at the half.
Norwich Free Academy expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. NFA's lone score in the quarter came on a Paparelli touchdown pass to Caruso.
Caruso was the top performer for the Norwich school. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The Whalers'
Sam Miranda played well. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to five on the year.
New London's lone touchdown came on a 5-yard run by Miranda in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats had given up an average of 9.3 points prior to the contest. NL's seven points were well below its season average of 29.7 per game.
Norwich Free Academy got revenge for last year's 37-17 loss to the Whalers with the victory.
The loss comes after New London defeated Ledyard 7-0 last week.
