Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. Seymour Owls
The Columbus East Olympians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-35 bruising from Seymour. Columbus East lost against Seymour in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-51 score last time.
Messiah Trapp and Madelyn Poe certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Trapp scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Poe scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Columbus East struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Columbus East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Seymour, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Columbus East will head out on the road to face off against Bedford North Lawrence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bedford North Lawrence presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Columbus East in Indiana (Bedford North Lawrence is ranked 12th, while Columbus East is ranked 202nd). As for Seymour, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome North Harrison at 1:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully North Harrison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Thursday.
