Recap: Sabinal Yellowjackets vs. Nueces Canyon Panthers
After flying high against the Sunnybrook Christian Lions last Tuesday, the Sabinal Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Sabinal fell 48-35 to Nueces Canyon on Friday. Sabinal has struggled against Nueces Canyon recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Schreiner Meredith was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds for Nueces Canyon. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Meredith has scored at least 25% of Nueces Canyon's points. Gabriella Luce was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Sabinal's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Nueces Canyon, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Sabinal will be playing in front of their home fans against Junction at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nueces Canyon, they will head out on the road to face off against Knippa at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
