Soccer Recap: Independence Extends Winning Streak to Three

Independence lost to San Jose back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Independence 76ers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the San Jose Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the 76ers have won by just one goal.

Jayden Pena and Percy Escalante scored both of Independence's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

The win was the third in a row for Independence, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. As for San Jose, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will head out to face off against James Lick at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. James Lick will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Independence surely won't give up without a fight. As for San Jose, they will venture away from home to challenge Gilroy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
