Soccer Game Preview: Cupertino vs. Monta Vista

The Cupertino Pioneers will head out on the road to challenge the Monta Vista Matadors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Cupertino will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals back in December of 2024, then bounced right back against Half Moon Bay two weeks ago. Everything went Cupertino's way against Half Moon Bay as Cupertino made off with a 5-1 victory. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Cougars are ranked 882nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cupertino hit Half Moon Bay with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Arjun Sharma (2), Ishaan Nagaraju (2), and Sam Salemi.

Meanwhile, Monta Vista made easy work of MacDonald on Friday and carried off a 4-1 win. That's two games straight that the Matadors have won by exactly three goals.

Monta Vista is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which lines up perfectly with their 5-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four contests. As for Cupertino, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
